Whether you've chartered year after year or this is your first time, we realize that our clients often have questions about how to charter the perfect yacht. For those who would like to browse through some of the more general questions that may help clarify a few issues, we'd like to present to you our Chartering FAQ's.
This handy little compilation of questions and answers is broken down in to three main categories, depending upon the type of charter you are interested in. Of course, there is no way we could fully answer all of your questions online, that is why we invite you to call our offices and speak with one of our professional charter consultants who can answer any other questions.

1. How many people can we take? The majority of half and full day charters take place on non-certified Yachts. These Yachts can accommodate a maximum of 12 passengers, regardless of size. For charters on our U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels, the capacity is up to 400 persons.
2. Why can't we put more than 12 on most boats?
According to the law as well as U.S. Coast Guard, 12 is the maximum number of passengers allowed on a non-certified Yacht.
3. If we get a bigger boat, can we have more than 12? The only time the size of the yacht determines the number of passengers allowed, is when your charter is aboard a certified party vessel. For all sport Yachts and private motor Yachts, the maximum is 12 regardless.
4. Does 12 include the crew? The 12 passenger maximum does not include the crew in that number. Please keep in mind though, additional staff, such as caterers, who are not part of the vessel crew, will be counted toward the maximum capacity.
5. Where do we board? In general, most charters will depart at Bayside Marina in downtown Miami. Pick up from other marinas can sometimes incur a landing fee imposed by the owner of the marina. Please note that some Yachts, due to overall size and/or draft, cannot enter all marinas. Requests to board at private docks will be addressed on an individual basis.
6. What happens if it rains? In southeast Florida, the occasional passing shower is commonplace and therefore our Yachts are suitably equipped to handle such weather. Large party vessels are designed with spacious enclosed interior spaces to guarantee that even in a rain storm, your guests will fully enjoy their trip. Our smaller vessels are also configured with luxurious cabins to escape any passing showers. Rest assured that your charter will not be affected by weather.
7. Can we pay by credit card?
All prices quoted by Deco Boat Charters, Inc. are “cash discounted” prices. For smaller charters with balances up to $3,000.00, we gladly accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. For larger charters, while we would prefer payment in the form of a wire transfer or corporate check, we understand credit cards might be required
8. Why is the charter fee less for morning cruises on sport Yacht? Since our sport Yachts are the most popular vessel type with the leisure market and specifically families, we offer a discounted rate in the mornings. |
